Clare Mcewan Learning New Ways to Extend Ideas

On the 24th June we had a second online meeting with a textile artist called Clare Mcewan, she works with a mix of physical and digital work. Furthermore she concentrates and explores the shape, layer, material of any object to create a unique and abstract finish, this finished product is usually a picture or a installation with the use of lighting and effects.
We all knew that she had so much to teach us, therefore i got a one-to-one interview with her at which i explained my ideas about the 1796 cavalry sword, with the battles that it was in and the patriotic patterns i showed her the questions i asked myself to extend my ideas such as; What was the makers intended purpose for this sword, for moral or patriotism on the battles or simply to kill? Clare Mcewan said these where good questions to ask to link into memories, but then she went further to say that a installation would suit the sword well maybe with the different parts of the sword broken off or on show but with the patriotic patterns in 3D.
I ran out of time before she could tell me ideas on how to make a 3D installation, however she gave me the new ideas of maybe a mix of digital and physical forms to create a character and his own memories behind the object. Not only does this link to Clare but it links into the questions that i have asked myself already, now i can create the warrior or hero who held the sword with even the maker of it, and then create an installation around his history when extending from the object.
